postcard process

We were asked to create a postcard for our documentary which would advertise our documentary. The postcard had to do three main things. Firstly, the postcard had to fit the conventions of a film festival postcard, such as a big title and simplistic imagery.. Secondly the postcard must help create a further sense of theme within the product. By reinforcing previously seen color schemes, imagery or even font. This helps create a brand. Lastly, we wanted out postcard to have an informative element to it. So we included the awards won and social media links.
We used photo shop to create the postcard, I personally was mostly involved in the creative and designing process of the postcard's production, as I helped create a sense of branding and simplicity. Firstly, the most noticeable feature between our products is that the postcard and poster use the same background. This helps to relate the products and causes the color blue in the background to be associated with out products. The title was created using the text tool, we used a bright white color in order to contrast the background. And we also chose a similar font to the font within the documentary. The size of the title was also done to make it stand out more, and also fit the conventions of a film festival postcard.
For the iconic photograph. We chose one that is representative of gaming. So we simply decided to use the same controller picture as we did for the poster. We used a magic wand tool to cut the backgrounds out to make it look more professional. Furthermore, we chose to position our image in the center of our postcard which makes it much more prominent than the other elements in our postcard. We also added our names at the bottom right corner. This is because these are not very important for the success of the product so we simply decided to type them in a small font in the corner.
The next step was now to add final touches. We added film festival awards from google to add a sense of professionalism to our production. We also added the logos of social media sites, which is another convention of postcards. And finally, we used the paint bucket tool to fill the title with different colors, which makes it stand out more. Furthermore we used the paint bucket tool to also make the social media logos stand out more as it is important that audiences get information by visiting our pages.
